About the speaker:  Jeffrey Sallet, CPA, CFF, is the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI New Orleans Division. He has an extensive career with the FBI including his prior role as the Section Chief of the Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section of the Criminal Investigation Division. In this capacity, he had oversight and responsibility over all Public Corruption, Civil Rights, International Human Rights, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Antitrust, International Money Laundering and Threat Finance investigations, FBI wide.  Mr. Sallet also led the coordinated law enforcement response and investigation of the Boston Marathon Bombings. He has lectured extensively throughout the world on organized crime, FCPA, civil rights, public corruption, and forensic accounting matters. Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Sallet worked with two global professional services firms, first as an auditor and then as a forensic accountant.

This position is located at the LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans. This is a supervisory, unclassified position in the Office of Internal Audit at LSU. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination and performance of audits for the Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and the Health Care Services Division. This is a hands-on position that interfaces with the most senior level of management.

Responsibilities are to be fulfilled with limited supervision. Responsibilities include: Plan, organize, direct and/or conduct financial, operational, follow-up or compliance audits, investigations or agreed-upon procedures. Establish and maintain effective, positive working relationships with university management and auditees to assist in the completion of the audit plan. Coordinate, lead and/or supervise work of audit staff, review scope statements, audit programs, internal control documentation, budgets and audit work papers, ensuring timely progress and successful completion of projects. Provide appropriate levels of supervision and quality assurance review to ensure work performed by others is accurate, competently performed and meets established standards for documentation, thoroughness, accuracy, etc. Inform supervisor of detailed progress of audits, major findings, problems encountered. Maintain attention to detail and implement successful project management practices. Provide professional audit reports supported by competent evidential data, partner with clients to develop recommendations to improve controls and systems, and conduct entrance and exit conferences. Other duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related field. Six years of Internal Auditing experience. Must be detail, action, solution and results oriented and dedicated to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration. Research and University auditing.
Certifications/Licenses required: Certified Public Accountant or​ Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Information Systems Auditor.

The New Orleans Chapter of the ACFE is happy to invite you to its first Happy Hour Networking/Social Event of the year on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Barcadia on Tchoupitoulas Street from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.  Register yourself and a friend, and swing on by for some good food (while it lasts!) and unlimited soft drinks/water, all while socializing over some friendly (or competitive) arcade games!  Each attendee will receive a ticket for one alcoholic beverage, and we’ll have a 50/50 raffle, proceeds of which will go towards our chapter’s scholarship fund. “Identifying the BS and Determining Whether Actions are Ethical”

Speaker:  Eric Palmer, CIA, CISA, CFE, CRISC; Director of Internal Audit, East Jefferson General Hospital

About the speaker:  Mr. Palmer is a CIA, CISA, CFE, CRISC, and a self-described “all-around know-it-all.”   In his role at East Jefferson General Hospital, he manages financial, operational and IT audits in an attempt to help keep everyone out of trouble.  He previously managed and conducted audits at a major credit card processor, the City of Atlanta, and the State of Georgia.  He also writes exam questions for the CIA and CISA, so he states that he “convinces himself that he is usually right (even when he isn’t).”  Mr. Palmer graduated from both Louisiana Tech and Tulane, has a small family, and tries to be politically correct by owning both a cat and a dog.
